NRA Consultants Report on Tara contradicts NRA & Cullen's stance
Frank McDonald of The Irish Times has revealed that an official report on the M3 Motorway at Tara which was compiled for the NRA by consultants Halcrow Barry in 2000 contradicts claims made by the Minister for Transport Martin Cullen and the NRA's Chairman Peter Malone that the present proposed route, termed in the report as B, is the best choice for the M3.

The report states that the B route, "passes through the most sensitive area of Tara from an archaeological view", and, "comes closest to the largest number of the archaeological monuments/sites". The consultants concluded that another route, termed in the report as P, would be the preferred option because, "this route does not impact on any ecological sites".

The NRA subsequently chose the B(2) route for the M3 against the advice of their own expert consultants.
