Meath Chamber of Commerce Backs M3 at Tara
Meath Chamber of Commerce is, along with the NRA, one of the most vocal supporters of the proposed M3 Motorway through the Tara/Skyne valley in spite of all the expert advice to the contrary. The Chamber has even posted the following statement on the Navan Chamber website in support of this act of cultural vandalism.

04/06/04– Meath Chambers Backs the Development of the M3.

Navan Chamber of Commerce
Trim Chamber of Commerce
Kells Chamber of Commerce
Dunshaughlin Chamber of Commerce

After a recent meeting held between Navan, Trim, Kells and Dunshaughlin Chamber of Commerce, the Chambers have stated that they fully support the development of the controversial M3 Clonee to Kells motorway, which is due to commence construction in 2005. All chambers agreed that construction of such a road could only lead to the development and increase of industry and business evolution in the Meath area. They also claimed that the current infrastructure could not safely and effectively cater for the ever-increasing population of towns like Navan, Trim, Kells and Dunshaughlin.

Construction of the M3 will alleviate traffic congestion in towns like Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Trim, Navan and Kells from heavy goods vehicles that travel through these towns everyday which adds to travel time for workers and shoppers alike. With proper infrastructure in place, Meath could see economic growth, which in turn would initiate job creation in our area, making our towns more self-sufficient. The proposed M3 will decrease the commuting times for Meath Residence who commute to Dublin on a daily basis. We have to progress with these developments if we are to benefit from industry and tourism development and growth. It is imperative that we commence this development next year and that it finishes on time and on budget.
