Jane Bowe

Jane Bowe is a graduate of the National College Art and Design. After college she spent a year teaching art in the Seychelles. She won the Taylor Art Prize in 1987. She taught art in Alexandra College Dublin and has given workshops in Portraiture and Life Drawing in the National Gallery of Ireland. She has had solo exhibitions and taken part in group exhibitions. Her work is in private collections at home and abroad. She is from a family of Irish artists.

Jane is very interested in Dublin city life. She painted a series of scenes of the Moore street stall holders. She worked from sketches she made in the 1980’s when she was a student in the N.C.A.D. She loves colour and busy street life.

Jane is inspired by the work of Rubens and Impressionists like Renoir and Sisley. She is inspired by Parisian Street scenes. Growing up in Dublin she spent much of her teens and twenties frequenting the coffee shops like Bewleys and picnicked in Stephen’s Green.
